For the past decade, I have provided direct support to seniors and their families during
transitions initiated by the natural process of aging. Whether it is a move or a change in health
and abilities, finding a new routine can be difficult for everyone involved.
For seniors, these transitions can be emotional and anxiety-inducing, particularly when they
become more reliant on others to meet their basic needs. In those moments, their voices can
become unintentionally quieter, but their right to be heard should still be upheld.
On the opposite end of the caregiving experience are the families who provide care or manage
it. They are often balancing these responsibilities alongside their own jobs, families, and health.
In other instances, family may not be available at all, so a close friend or trusted person steps in
to assist.
After witnessing these moments, I recognized the distinct need for as many resources as
possible to support everyone involved in the aging community, especially seniors and their loved
ones at the heart of it.
That is why Resources for Ageing has been created.
Our goal is to support seniors and our community by providing helpful products, sharing
perspectives and keeping the conversation about ageing going. When communication happens,
the person needing care and the people who love them can work together to understand each
other.
Ways to get involved:
● Monthly blog: about ageing.. covering transitions, how to prepare, what to consider.
● Free Digital Resources: Checklists + Questions + Conversations starters to support
seniors/families/caregivers.
● Purchase Products/Contribute: recommended products for seniors, by seniors!
This type of support promotes understanding of Ageing, which will become increasingly
important as the population of people aged 65 and older in Sonoma County continues to make
up 24.4% of our population. (U.S. Census Bureau 2024) As more people live longer,
communities will find themselves navigating daily life with more seniors around them.
Resources for Ageing believes these life transitions deserve thoughtful preparation,
consideration and conversation!
Our next conversation about, When Getting in the Car Becomes The Hardest Part will be
shared November 1st, 2027.
